Road Tripping

Well, on Friday morning (early) I’m leaving Phoenix in the SpecB and coming back on Monday (evening I’m sure) in my *new to me* NSX. The plan for me is to meet with Brad in Baton Rouge, LA, which would be about 20 hours of driving for me one way, and then back. That’s 1500 miles (a little less) each way. I’m figuring 2 days based on my trip to get Sho which was Phoenix to Colorado Springs, CO clocking in at 850 miles or so and took 12 hours give or take.

This is a momentous occasion to me since it will be the 1st time since May of 2000 that I haven’t owned a Subaru. I’ve had the following awesome cars during that run:

2003 Subaru Legacy GT
2005 Subaru Legacy GT
2004 Forester XT
2007 Legacy GT SpecB

And the next chapter adds in a 1991 Acura NSX (it’s in the vehicle section) that I’m sure will turn heads and get me a little bit of the lady action. Probably not but it’s fun to hope.

The upside to downsizing

Well, it finally happened again. In 2003 I was downsized from IBM/Amex and it was a blessing. I took a year off from working to spend some time developing my business and working on my skills (and drinking in the hot tub). In October of 2004 I started working for ILI and have had a great time there, working my ass of and accomplishing a lot.
Last Monday (11/10/08) I was downsized from ILI in an economic move to try and save the company from self destructing. I’ve always understood how business work and the fact that they had laid off nearly half of their staff since July 5th was a sign of trouble. I didn’t necessarily think it was my time, but its OK to me.

I know it’s for the best and I am moving forward with my life. I do now know what the inside of a hand basket looks like …

Political Thoughts part III

I have this theory that I’ve been thinking of, I call it the Frank Army Theory (based on Frank Kramer of Frosty, Heidi and Frank show). Frank has gone on the air a number of times stating that he believes that America is a lot more racist then you think. He’s tagged McCain to win on that basis, because the theory is that people won’t admit to pollsters that they are voting for McCain so they don’t appear racist.
Personally, I think that’s pretty lame. If you believe in the ideology of one person over another, then vote for that person, whomever that is. Race shouldn’t play a part in anything and that’s really an honest opinion. People who are afraid to admit they are for a white candidate over a black candidate are morons. And black people who will only vote for Obama based on the fact that he is black are racist.

Yup, I’m calling EVERYONE out. I’ll restate this, vote for the person who best fits your beliefs, not your color of skin. Until that happens, regardless of the color of your skin, you are acting as a racist. Even Mongolians can be racist given a chance :p

My personal prediction, McCain wins in a close contest via the Frank Army Theory.

politics part II

Most of my friends know that I’m a conservative republican EVEN though I am heavily tattooed and well, weird. But while I am as such, I have always leaned a little to the left on certain social issues, which when looked at in contrast to my personality, it’s obvious why. So, here’s the short list …
* Sexual Education: I’m all in on this. Students need to understand the ramifications to their actions and just how screwed up their life will be if they don’t practice safe sex. Whatever your definition of safe sex is, I don’t care as long as we move away from teen pregnancies and teen abortions as a form of birth control.

* Abortion: As noted above, it shouldn’t be used as a form of birth control. BUT, I’m all for it for general use. What I think a women should do with her body is irrelevant and in no way what I think be imposed on all. It’s not like when she is knocked up I have a say in whether it’s kept or not, so why impose my will at all.

* Gay Marriage: Having been married and now divorced, I can say that gay and lesbian couples should absolutely have the right to be completely miserable and screwed over by marriage. As long as marriage is allowed for a man & women, then man/man, women/women, man/horse or whatever should be OK. I mean seriously, let them suffer!!!

* Religion in anything: I’m a atheist … so F everyone. Stop being douches and realize the foundation and basis of this country, in all that we do, is based on religion. Get over yourself and move on.

* Legalized Marijuana: Yes, legalize it. And tax it. Alot. And control it like you control liquor. Do you have any idea HOW much money the governments, at all levels, would make in taxes? Gives me a rod thinking about it…

So, there you have it. a short list of things that aren’t conservative in nature but that’s how I feel. Now, back to cleaning my AK47 and my beer.

I know that sounds horrible, but honestly, I’d bring the moon to the earth & move the stars around for someone I cared about, but I don’t ask for much. I got the divorce because my ex-wife wouldn’t take care of the little things that I feel were necessary to keep me happy. I let her not work when she was very capable, I paid the bills, I helped her with the education … I suppose that has lead to how I am now, but I don’t date so much so it’s not really bad. When I do date, it’s a few months and then I lose interest. That’s likely cause I date chicks in the 23-28 range. Don’t throw shit at me, I know I’m bad. I don’t want to be, but I really like younger / more naive women.

In an odd bit of research to confirm something I knew/suspected about astrological compatibility between 2 particular signs. In doing this research, I found some interesting stuff that caught me off guard, mainly because I forgot how true it was
